JERSEY CITY, NJ – Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC (“Lord Abbett”), an independent, privately-held investment management firm, announced today that its global headquarters in Jersey City has achieved WELL Platinum Certification from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). This recognition follows the office’s LEED Platinum Certification, awarded earlier this year. Lord Abbett moved to its new space at 30 Hudson Street in 2024.
Lord Abbett designed its new office space in Jersey City as part of its commitment to embrace the future of work, reflecting the culture of the firm and promoting collaboration, innovation, and learning. Together, these dual Platinum certifications demonstrate the firm’s holistic approach to sustainability, health, and employee experience, creating surroundings that are both environmentally responsible and deeply supportive of well-being.
“We set out to create a new headquarters with the understanding that this would be our center of gravity in a new era of work and would create an environment that would allow us to perform to our highest potential,” said Doug Sieg, CEO and Managing Partner of Lord Abbett. “We knew that the future of work would require an office that prioritized well-being and health. The WELL Platinum Certification acknowledges that our new space meets these goals at a high standard and contributes to our vision of being the most respected asset manager in the world.”
Lord Abbett’s 30 Hudson Street office earned 82 points under the WELL Building Standard™ (WELL v2), denoting the firm’s success across ten key concepts: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind, and Community. Highlights of Lord Abbett’s certification include:
- Advanced indoor air quality monitoring and filtration systems, ensuring optimal air conditions
Abundant natural light, ergonomic workspaces, and biophilic design features, promoting focus and well-being
Dedicated spaces that encourage movement, restoration, and mindfulness
Comprehensive programs supporting mental health, inclusivity, and nutrition
Lord Abbett collaborated with BEYOND as sustainability and wellness consultants, guiding the project’s certification strategy and documentation. The holistic approach to sustainability and wellness allowed the team to meet the rigorous performance testing, documentation, and verification requirements of both certification programs.
The WELL Building Standard, developed by IWBI, and the LEED Rating System, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), are globally recognized frameworks for promoting sustainability, health, and performance in the built environment. Achieving Platinum in both is a distinction reserved for projects demonstrating exceptional leadership and measurable impact.
