Adam Backman, CFA

Adam Backman leads the efforts of Lord Abbett's Product Strategy team, which encompasses Product Management, Product Messaging, and the Investment Strategists. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the development and communication of the firm's investment product strategies across the U.S. Retail, U.S. Institutional, and International markets. Mr. Backman also participates in product development and actively monitors industry trends to ensure that Lord Abbett continues to offer competitive investment solutions in the marketplace. In addition, he serves on the Investment Committee, which is responsible for leading Lord Abbett’s investment organization. He also serves on the Enterprise Risk Management Committee.

Mr. Backman joined Lord Abbett in 2004 and was named Partner in 2016. Prior to his current role, he worked in various capacities at the firm, including Senior Portfolio Specialist and Director of Due Diligence, Institutional Investor Services. His previous experience includes serving in the Capital Markets Intelligence group at Thomson Financial. He has worked in the financial services industry since 2000.

He earned a BA in psychology from Duke University. He also is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts, and is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst^® (CFA) designation.
