Thomas Phillips, a Partner and Deputy General Counsel, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the legal and regulatory functions in connection with the Lord Abbett Family of Funds, including oversight of all disclosure documents, regulatory filings, and compliance oversight of fund-related sales and marketing materials. Mr. Phillips routinely interacts with U.S. federal and state regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Mr. Phillips began his career in the financial services industry in 1999. He joined Lord Abbett in 2006, and was named Partner in 2011. Previously, he was an Associate Attorney with the law firms of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP and Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP. Prior to his career as a mutual fund lawyer, Mr. Phillips served as an intelligence officer for the U.S. Army.
Mr. Phillips is a published member of the International and Comparative Law Journal, Temple University School of Law. He also co-authored multiple articles on anti-money-laundering regulatory initiatives.
Mr. Phillips earned a BA from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Temple University School of Law.
