John McMillin III, a Lord Abbett Partner and Research Analyst, assists in the stock-selection process, primarily in the consumer sector, supporting the firm's Domestic Equity Investments team. His responsibilities include building knowledge of leading consumer staples and consumer discretionary companies by visiting headquarters, attending conferences, participating in senior management conference calls, and reviewing industry journals.
Mr. McMillin joined Lord Abbett in 2007 as a Research Analyst for the large cap value equity strategy and was named Partner in 2011. Prior to joining Lord Abbett, he was a Managing Director/Senior Food Analyst with Prudential Equity Group; an Assistant to Director of Research at Philips Appel & Walden; and a Visiting Professor of Investment Analysis at both St. John's University and Hunter College. He began his career in the financial services industry since 1980.
Mr. McMillin is a 2011 member of the TopGun U.S. Consumer Products Investment Minds and has been featured on Institutional Investor magazine's list of top equity analysts for twenty consecutive years. He also serves on the boards of Spence Chapin Services to Families & Children and the Lake Placid Educational Foundation.
Mr. McMillin earned a BS in business from Bucknell University and an MBA from Babson College. He also is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
