Partner & Director of Calibrated Equity Management

Rick Ruvkun, a Lord Abbett Partner & Director of Calibrated Equity Management,  is responsible for the daily management of the Calibrated Funds. He focuses on identifying stock-specific opportunities through proprietary research, with an emphasis on mandate consistency, sector/industry neutrality, and rigorous risk control.  He also is a portfolio manager for the Affiliated Fund and the Classic Stock Fund.

Mr. Ruvkun joined Lord Abbett in 2006 as a Portfolio Manager and team leader for the firm's mid cap growth strategy, and was named Partner in 2008. Prior to his current role, he was Director of Domestic Research.  His previous experience also includes: Partner, managing small and Smid growth equity investments at J. & W. Seligman; Portfolio Manager at Bessemer Trust; sell-side Equity Research Analyst, focusing on companies in the information technology sector, and an Equity Analyst for the Emerging Growth Fund at Morgan Stanley; and an Associate in the Venture Capital Division at Merrill Lynch. He began his career in the financial services industry in 1983. 

Before beginning his career in the financial services industry, he worked as a Cost Engineer for International Business Machines (IBM).

Mr. Ruvkun's insights on large and mid cap growth investments have been featured in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He also has been interviewed for his perspective on market valuations by Bloomberg and CNBC.

Mr. Ruvkun earned a BS in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and an MS in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management.
